Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech
A launch film built fast in Blender’s real-time engine that grew from a social post into a worldwide billboard campaign.
01
Problem
Panerai needed a launch film for the Luminor Marina Carbotech to go out on social media, and it had to be ready fast. A traditional offline rendering pipeline would have taken too long to hit the launch window.
02
Approach
I built the animation in Blender and rendered it with Eevee, Blender’s real-time engine, instead of a slower path-traced renderer. Real-time rendering meant I could review lighting, materials and camera moves instantly and iterate many more times in the time available, while keeping the carbon texture and the watch details looking premium.
03
Result
The film launched on Panerai’s social channels and was received so well that it outgrew its original brief and became a global campaign asset. I re-edited and re-rendered it for a range of out-of-home formats, including a giant billboard on a building façade in Singapore and an unusual multi-panel display in a shopping centre in China, where the composition had to be rebuilt to read across several oddly shaped screens.
